€111.000 is the total amount we’ll be paying, including fees, taxes, and a small crowdfunding-budget, to secure the land. For a budget-breakdown, see this Google Sheet.
Every € you give is used as follows:
- €0,90 – land purchase price (total price €100.000)
- €0,07 – land purchase taxes (max. 7.5% of sales price)
- €0,01 – Notary costs (max. €1000)
- €0,01 – Marketing & communication costs (€1000 budgeted)
- €0,01 – Unforeseen (€1000 budgeted, mostly for transaction fees)
In April 2026, we signed a promissory contract and made a down payment thanks to the first funds raised.
The contract has given us access to the land to start the work, plus a deadline to raise the remaining funds and finalise the purchase: mid-October.
You may think we’re crazy. We sometimes think we’re crazy, too.

The Dream
To turn 11 hectares of burnt land in Central Portugal…
… into a biodiverse, resilient, and abundant demonstration site and training ground
Miracle Mountain is becoming a community and learning centre that:
- prototypes new ways of living and working
- develops blueprints for a thriving and peaceful planet
We aim to:
- Reverse the drought-fire-flood spiral by partnering with natural creation patterns and water cycles
- Design, implement, and refine conditions for effective teamplay and joyful collaboration
- Create a cool and lush microclimate within a decade of starting the work
- Produce wholesome food and contribute to local food sovereignty while increasing soil health and biodiversity
- Host courses, experiences, and initiations for children and adults
- Grow into a skilled and resourceful community that finds security in togetherness (rather than individual bank accounts)
- Be a node in a growing network of communities and initiatives that inspire the world we, deep down, all wish to live in

In the face of intensifying droughts, fires, floods, and desertification,
… of economies that don’t know when more is enough,
… and of global dynamics that seem to drive us further apart,
… we need living examples of what grows…
… when we stop buying into the story of separation,
… and step into true collaboration,
with ourselves, each other, and the world around us.
We feel called to co-create such an example.
Not by trying to be perfect, but by working to be true.
Current Steps (2026)
Acquiring and freeing the land
April – October 2026
- We’ve signed a promissory contract for an agreed sales price of €100,000 (€111,000 including fees and taxes).
- We have until mid-October to raise funds and complete the purchase.
- Once acquired, we will transfer the land to a foundation that guarantees:
- Freedom from market dynamics and speculation. Miracle Project‘s lands and (future) buildings cannot be treated as things to be exploited or sold for financial profit.
- Mission-aligned use and stewardship. Instead of possessing real estate, we care for it.

Site analysis, budgeting, and planning
April – November 2026
- Reading the land, hydrology, vegetation, and animal life
- Digging test slices and analysing the soil
- Making a full design and determining the phases
- Budgeting and raising funds for our operational work, building a basecamp, and executing the first interventions.

Starting the work and setting up basecamp
April – December 2026
- Marking trees that are re-sprouting, transforming burnt stumps into food for the soil, and tackling erosion on the hillsides and in the main eroding gulley.
- Repairing access to the land.
- We’ve welcomed the first volunteers and we’re open to trial-running with potential resident team members.
- We’re promoting memberships as a way to increase outreach and invite support for our operational expenses.
- From June onwards, we’ll be building a rudimentary base camp; after finalising the purchase, we’ll turn that into a proper Base Camp version 1.
- From October onwards, we’ll host the first hands-on courses and experience weeks on the land.
